Birmingham-Southern College seeks candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate economics courses for one tenure-track position beginning August 2017. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory economics courses and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Passion to teach econometrics and at least two subject areas related to behavioral, health, environmental, resource, labor, or education economics is required. The teaching load is 3-1-3 including an interim term in January. During January, professors offer unique, innovative, experiential, and/or travel courses.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field by August 2017. In addition to service to the College and dedication to sustaining and enhancing a rigorous economics curriculum, preferred candidates will be able to contribute to at least two additional established and/or emerging programs: Global and Comparative Studies, Urban Environmental Studies, Human Rights and Conflict Studies, Public Health, Poverty Studies, Creative and Applied Computing, Gender and Women Studies, and Media and Film Studies.
