The Department of Economics seeks applicants for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (non-tenure track), beginning in August 2017. Responsibilities include a teaching component and an administrative component. Regarding the administrative component, the lectureship appointee, in conjunction with the John H. Schnatter Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise, will play a key role in the development of programs in the Gatton College regarding entrepreneurship and its relationship to free enterprise, thus presents an opportunity be a critical contributor in building this program. This will involve development of relevant coursework and course sequences, developing connections to complementary programs, involvement with ongoing administration, and teaching in the entrepreneurship program. It is also expected that the appointee will engage with and help organize other Schnatter Institute activities (e.g, discussion groups, speakers).

In addition to teaching in the entrepreneurship program, the appointee will teach economics classes that may include principles, upper-division undergraduate, and masters’- level coursework. This position is an initial appointment of one or more years with a high likelihood of renewal based on performance.

A Ph.D. at the beginning of the appointment is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a potential for or record of teaching excellence, intellectual engagement in the academic enterprise, and the capacity to engage in program building. Salary is competitive and negotiable.
