Job Description:
Binghamton University is seeking a senior level professor of sustainable regional economic development to contribute to the University's interdisciplinary focus on Sustainable Communities. This hire will be at the Associate or Full Professor level with tenure and an August 2017 start date.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of publications and external funding in the area of sustainable local/regional economic development policy and/or planning. This is a core hire position for the Sustainable Communities Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAE). We expect applicants to have a background in public administration,public policy,economics,urban planning,business,geography or related field, and be housed in an appropriate department.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across campus to generate research and contribute to teaching in programs such as the Master's degree in Sustainable Communities and undergraduate degrees in Environmental Studies. Competitive candidates will have leadership skills commensurate with the goal of the Sustainable Communities TAE to create a nationally recognized research center. Another goal of the TAE is to contribute to the ongoing dialogue regarding economic development of the Southern Tier of upstate New York.
Desirable skills include GIS/spatial analyses, experience with “big data”,panel econometrics,and/or computational modeling.
