The Urban Institute’s Center on Labor, Human Services, and Population is seeking a Research Associate to conduct and manage research studies related to family, children and youth policies and programs. The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct cutting-edge quantitative or mixed methods research and have experience the following areas: program evaluation in child care, child welfare, early education, disconnected youth, and education and training; survey design, administration, and data analysis; implementation science and performance measures; continuous quality improvement; and behavioral economics or psychology.

Responsibilities:
Participate in developing grant and/or contract proposals and agendas for new research.
Select appropriate statistical and econometric techniques to analyze data, supervise and/or oversee primary data collection and analysis by junior staff.
Interpret research findings from a policy perspective and translate research for policymakers and other stakeholders.
Maintain project budgets and manage resources for segments of research projects under his/her responsibility.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and assist with proposals.
Participate in writing final reports and presenting results to funders, stakeholders, and researchers.

Qualifications:
Educational and related work experience:
PhD expected in economics, sociology, demography, human development, developmental psychology, public policy, social work, public health, family studies, education or related social science field.
