The Faculty of Economics of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano - Switzerland, invites applications from candidates of international research standing for a position in Macroeconomics. The position is at the level of Associate Professor (with tenure) or Full Professor.

We are seeking a scholar with research interests in all areas of Macroeconomics, including – but not limited to – the fields of Applied Macroeconomics, Empirical Fiscal or Monetary Policy, Labor Macroeconomics, Political Economy.

The new professor will be expected to conduct research in the area of her/his interest, to contribute to our undergraduate and master’s programs, supervise doctoral students, and participate in the activities of the Faculty and University.

The Faculty of Economics of USI provides a young and dynamic environment with strong research competences in broad areas of Economics, Finance, and Management. The position is affiliated with the Istituto di Economia Politica (IdEP), which coordinates research and teaching in the area of Economics. The Institute is a competitive group with main research interests in applied economics and economic policy.

The candidate’s profile:
The ideal candidate has a strong publication record including top/top-field journals. He or she demonstrates willingness to actively participate to the development of his area and of the institution. Development of proficiency in Italian is encouraged within a reasonable amount of time to be able to contribute to undergraduate teaching. The required academic qualification is a doctoral degree (PhD).

Teaching load:
A full-time Professorship corresponds to 168 teaching hours a year. A teaching hour is 45 minutes.

Residence:
Professors reside in the Ticino Canton, which is part of the Italian-speaking area of Switzerland. The new professor is expected to provide consistent participation to the academic activities of the university.

Salary and contract:
The salary is within a range established by University regulations. The exact amount will be defined depending on experience and academic qualifications.
