Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has a position for one junior or senior Research Economist in its Division of Price and Index Number Research (DPINR), Office of Prices and Living Conditions (OPLC). Economists in all fields are encouraged to apply. The applicant's field is less important than the ability to execute frontier research and help BLS improve its published price index and consumer expenditure (CE) statistics. DPINR economists are expected to be active within the academic community by publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Duties include collaboration with OPLC staff to incorporate cutting-edge research into official statistics. Applicants should be interested in the work of OPLC programs. Price and CE economic statistics should be of the highest quality possible.

DPINR has 12 PhD economists across a range of different fields. DPINR Economists evenly split their time between (1) engaging in self-directed academic research, and (2) working on the Consumer/Import-Export/Producer Price Indexes and the Consumer Expenditure Survey (CE) issues.

We will attend the ASSA meetings. For full consideration, submit required application materials through JOE by December 4, 2016.
