The Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, invites applications for a tenure-track teaching and educational leadership position at the rank of Instructor. Starting date: July 1, 2017. The Instructor is expected to teach a full course load per year, including introductory and/or intermediate economics and specialized undergraduate field courses. Positions are subject to final budgetary approval.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
 
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Economics before commencing the position, and have experience in teaching undergraduate courses. The area of specialization is open; however, expertise and experience in teaching macroeconomics or international economics would be an asset. Individuals with a proven track record of excellence in teaching economics and academic supervision of undergraduate economics students are encouraged to apply. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to educational leadership, including curriculum development and course design.  Experience in pedagogical research, economics curriculum development,the integration of innovative teaching practices and technologies in the curriculum, and experience with professional associations supporting economics education, is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an excellent record of teaching and service.  Service will include responsibility for administrative work related to the undergraduate program in the School.
This is a tenure-track position and the successful candidate will be reviewed for reappointment, tenure, and promotion in subsequent years, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
