The Penn State School of International Affairs (http://www.sia.psu.edu), an interdisciplinary professional school, in conjunction with the Penn State Rock Ethics Institute (http://rockethics.psu.edu), seek an Associate Professor (with tenure) to research, teach and collaborate on the intertwined roles of ethics, development, and resources. We are particularly interested in scholars who examine choices made in the distribution, management, and development of Water, Food and Energy. A strong focus on the international dimensions of these questions is important. A Ph.D. is required in the fields of Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Agricultural Sciences, or another relevant field. It is expected that a competitive candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence in interdisciplinary research, teaching and leadership. We seek candidates whose work aims to span the policy and academic worlds through the generation of rigorous research with policy impact.

The School of International Affairs (SIA) is a graduate academic unit of The Pennsylvania State University. The School integrates practical and theoretical aspects of international affairs with a set of highly ranked specialized disciplines. Penn State (http://www.psu.edu) is embarking on a transformative series of co-funded hires in ethics designed to ensure that Penn State becomes a leader in ethics informed interdisciplinary research and the integration of ethical literacy throughout the Penn State curriculum. This is one of twelve tenure-track appointments funded by the University to augment the Penn State mission in this important area. Co-funded faculty will be hosted as affiliate faculty in the Penn State Rock Ethics Institute (http://rockethics.psu.edu). We are seeking candidates who will build on the Rock Ethics Institute’s tradition of excellence in collaborative, interdisciplinary ethics research and ethically informed decision support for significant societal issues, as well as their success in integrating ethics into the curriculum. We are looking for individuals who will be effective in working on and leading interdisciplinary teams that embed ethical analysis into research projects including decision support research, and who have experience and interest in integrating ethics in undergraduate and graduate curriculum. Faculty who are hired will be Affiliate Faculty in the Rock Ethics Institute and receive a one-course release for the first five years designed to enhance collaboration with faculty and students on existing ethics research and curricular initiatives as well as building new initiatives and programs in conjunction with the Institute’s mission.
