Join a growing office with important financial stability responsibilities. A unique opportunity to lead a team and identify threats to the U.S. financial stability for the benefit of the public and policymakers using financial data unavailable elsewhere.

The Office of Financial Research (OFR) promotes financial stability by identifying threats to financial stability, analyzing the impact of financial policies and regulations, conducting research on financial stability issues, developing tools to monitor financial institutions and markets, addressing data gaps, improving data standards, and promoting best practices in financial risk management. Headquartered in Washington, DC, with an office in New York City. This position can be based in New York City or Washington, DC.

About the Role: The Research and Analysis Center in the OFR seeks candidates for the position of Associate Director, Current Analysis. The Current Analysis team does real-time monitoring of the financial system to identify potential threats to U.S. financial stability. It builds monitoring tools for use both internally and externally in threat assessment. Current Analysis produces the OFR’s Financial Stability Monitor, Financial Markets Monitor, and U.S. Money Market Fund Monitor, and contributes to the flagship annual Financial Stability Report, other OFR publications as well as analysis for the Financial Stability Oversight Council and its member agencies.

The Associate Director, Current Analysis is responsible for setting analytical and research priorities for the team; hiring and managing a multidisciplinary team of analysts, researchers, and data scientists; providing leadership on financial stability analysis and the OFR’s financial stability risk assessment; contributing to recommendations on financial stability policy; and supporting the Office's data and data standards initiatives. Associate Directors can lead a team of more than 20 employees.

Successful candidates will have excelled in the conduct of financial market or financial stability analysis, writing for publication, and management of people or projects. Backgrounds in policy institutions, regulatory agencies, academia, and industry are welcome. Candidates should demonstrate proven ability to analyze complex questions, lead multiple projects, and manage relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Outstanding written and oral communications skills are essential, including the ability to address a non-technical audience.

SALARY: $143,437 - $253,544 in DC, and 164,952 - $262,700 in NYC, depending on skills and experience. Salaries and benefits are competitive with similar high-level positions at federal regulatory agencies covered by FIRREA.
