Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for the position of Bidgood Chair of Finance and Economics. The Bidgood Chair of Finance and Economics will provide leadership in economics research and education for the Culverhouse College of Commerce and The University of Alabama. The Bidgood Chair is expected to maintain a nationally recognized level of research scholarship with publications in top-tier journals and work closely with graduate students and other faculty members in the department and college. The Bidgood Chair will teach courses at the undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral level within their area of expertise.

Candidates from all areas of economics will be considered for the position; however, preference will be given to candidates with a strong research record in experimental/behavioral economics, econometrics, applied microeconomics or macroeconomics. We are particularly interested in candidates that can work collaboratively with other faculty and graduate students to enhance our research programs in economics.

Successful candidates must hold an earned doctorate in economics, finance, or a closely related field and have a research and teaching record consistent with a tenured associate or full professor in economics at a major flagship university. Candidates with a record of externally-funded research (e.g., grant funding) are particularly encourage to apply.

The appointment will be made at either the associate or full professor level, depending on the candidate’s experience and record. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, including research and travel support and a reduced teaching load.

Appointment is effective August 16, 2017.

Review of nominations/applications will begin immediately. All applicants will be required to submit a Curriculum Vitae/Resume, cover letter describing their qualifications and interest in the position, and contact information for three references. Only on-line applications will be accepted. Applicants may apply online at https://facultyjobs.ua.edu. Applications will be accepted until October 16, 2016.
