The Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology (REES) invites applications from outstanding individuals for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Agricultural and Food Business Management with an appointment of 40% research, 40% teaching and 20% service. Candidates must demonstrate potential to achieve excellence in research and teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will develop an outstanding externally-funded research program in collaboration with industry stakeholders and academic partners, establish strong undergraduate and graduate teaching, and provide service to the Department, Faculty, University, and their profession.

The Department has a history of producing high quality research on relevant topics pertaining to agricultural, resource and environmental economics. The successful candidate will contribute to this tradition and build new areas of expertise both individually and as part of collaborative teams composed of people within and outside academia in the area of agricultural and food business management. We are interested in individuals with research and teaching interests in food distribution systems, value-added agriculture, agricultural finance, and/or the economics of agricultural and food production systems. The successful candidate will effectively obtain and leverage external research funding and is expected to publish in appropriate high-impact journals. The incumbent will seek and establish effective collaborations as well as establish and maintain strong relations with agri-food industries at the provincial and national levels. Undergraduate teaching responsibilities will emphasize courses within the Agricultural and Food Business Management program which is offered jointly between the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences and the School of Business. Opportunities also exist for graduate teaching. Other responsibilities may include graduate teaching and supervision.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Business, or a related field; or expect to receive a Ph.D. by the time of hire. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The start date could be fall 2017 or earlier.
