Full Text of JOE Listing:

ICI is a Washington D.C.-based global trade association for regulated investment funds (mutual funds, ETFs). ICI is looking for three Ph.D. economists. Economists provide economic analysis of relevant issues, monitor trends and regulatory developments, may help draft comment letters to government and other agencies, contribute to ICI’s research publications and blogs, publish research in refereed journals, and interact with regulators, academics, and media. Applicants must have excellent command of spoken and written English as demonstrated through research and writing experience, as well as superior communication, presentation and analytical skills that can be translated into policy research. Applicants must have the ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of audiences both in written and oral form. Applicants should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience. Some domestic and international travel may be required.

Economist Position #1: ICI is seeking an economist with a strong interest and understanding of household finance, retirement policy, and household survey design, who will undertake original research associated with households’ financial decisions, retirement system design, and investor behavior. The economist will undertake public policy oriented research on households’ saving and investing (e.g., in mutual funds, IRAs, 401(k) plans) primarily in the U.S.

Economist Position #2: ICI is also seeking two economists with a strong interest and understanding of financial institutions and financial markets, who will undertake original research associated with the regulated mutual fund industry in the US and globally. These economists will undertake public policy oriented research on regulated investment funds (e.g., mutual funds and ETFs) both in the U.S. and abroad. Applicants with a background in international economics and emerging markets are especially encouraged to apply.
