Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the assistant and (non-tenured) associate levels.

We invite applications from candidates who focus on applied microeconomic research on firms, their interactions, organizations, and markets.

Successful candidates should have a genuine interest in exploring the challenges faced by firms and managers in the real world. HBS offers faculty the opportunity to interact with managers and business leaders. We are looking for candidates willing to embrace the opportunity to have their research inspired from these interactions, and who are motivated to produce research that has a real impact on scholars as well as on practicing managers.

Faculty in the Strategy Unit have backgrounds in economics (theory or applied empirics), business administration, sociology, management, and related fields. What brings the Unit together is an aspiration to become the world’s leading developer and disseminator of knowledge relevant to business strategists, through research rooted in practice and intensely engaging teaching.

With time, candidates are expected to become strong, effective teachers. Typically, the teaching assignment for new faculty is in the MBA and in the doctoral programs. At a later stage, candidates often transition to teaching in executive education. We offer a range of case-based courses on topics such as: competitive and corporate strategy, global strategy, boundaries and organization of the firm, technology strategy, and the economics of competitive interactions. We encourage faculty to develop elective courses closely tied to their research agendas and to exploit complementarities between research and course development.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
