The Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking candidates for a twelve month, open rank, tenured or tenure-leading faculty position with an appointment of 60 percent extension and 40 percent research.

The position is one of a three-person cluster hire that will focus on production, marketing and risk management decision-making by commercial agriculture and agribusiness firms along with addressing issues in the public sector. The incumbent is expected to develop a high-impact, nationally and internationally recognized extension and research program in the economics of livestock marketing and risk management, including, marketing of livestock under different contract specifications, outlook reports on livestock prices and markets; the use of derivatives, contracts, and insurance as risk management tools; and public policy. The incumbent will seek and establish effective disciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations, and connect with stakeholders to strengthen extension and research programming.

Requirements include a PhD in Agricultural Economics or related field at the time of hire; ability to communicate effectively with students, stakeholders and other faculty in publications, websites, and oral presentations; strong training in economic theory, and quantitative methods and their application to applied problems; and documented evidence, commensurate with appropriate rank of hire, of excellence in outreach and success in obtaining external funding and publishing scholarly work in appropriate outlets. Preferred requirements include familiarity with the economics of beef and livestock production, management and marketing; demonstrated experience at applying economic analysis to beef and livestock marketing and risk management; record of educational programs for students and/or stakeholders focused on beef and livestock marketing and risk management; experience with building and coordinating extension programs; and exhibited ability to work in teams and provide leadership.
