The Department of Economics at South Dakota State University seeks an assistant professor of economics. The position is full time and tenure track.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Economics. We welcome applications from PhD candidates who will complete their degree before this position begins. Teaching and research field areas associated with this position correspond to JEL codes C00 (Mathematical and Quantitative Methods), D00 (General Microeconomics), and E00 (General Macroeconomics). Preferred qualifications include a doctoral-level field area or emphasis in econometrics, a research record in peer-reviewed, high-quality journals that demonstrates advances in or innovative uses of quantitative techniques, the ability to conduct interdisciplinary research, a record of grant-proposal writing, and experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in economic theory and quantitative methods, including operations research, business statistics, and econometrics.

Each academic year teaching responsibilities will include instructing five courses in economics and mathematical and quantitative methods. Research responsibilities will include maintaining a nationally and internationally recognized research program in economics. Service responsibilities will include academically advising undergraduate students, directing and advising graduate-student research, and participating in outreach efforts associated with the department, college, and university.
