Full Text of JOE Listing:

University College Dublin invites applications for the position of AIB Chair of Behavioural Economics.

Behavioural Economics offers an exciting and relatively new challenge to the conventional wisdom in economics by focusing on the processes and contexts of decision-making and choice. Research in this field applies developments in the psychology of decision making to generate more realistic models of behaviour. Applying these models to problems in business and government can have a significant impact on economic and social progress and individual well-being: Behavioural economics has already made significant contributions to policymaking in the UK and US.

Allied Irish Banks are sponsoring a leadership investment to recruit a dedicated professorial member of staff that will promote research and teaching in behavioural economics at UCD.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a position in the UCD School of Economics and will work with the UCD Geary Institute for Public Policy to establish a new research programme at UCD that applies behavioural economics to key problems confronting economy and society at Irish, European and global levels. The appointee will develop a new Masters programme built around the insights of behavioural economics as well as a new UCD-AIB Behavioural Economics Lab at the UCD Geary Institute.
