We have an opportunity for an Analyst to join the Methodology Development Group at Moody’s Investors Service. The group is responsible for the global development of all credit rating methodologies across all asset classes. Positions are available in New York and London.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing team of quantitative researches and modelling experts with deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative approaches to assessing credit risk across corporate, financial institution, government, and structured credits.

Key responsibilities include:
• Create and maintain models and scorecards to assign ratings across different asset classes.
• Develop credit rating criteria.
• Coordinate with the rating teams in the different lines of business to ensure consistency and incorporate their expertise.
• Support existing and future applications from the analytical teams.
• Develop written documentation supporting the methodologies and models.

Qualifications:
• Very strong academic background, with a Ph.D. degree or a Master’s degree in a quantitative filed such as Economics, Finance, Econometrics or Applied Mathematics.
• Strong quantitative skills and financial/statistical research experience.
• Understanding of model development including model design and implementation.
• Proficiency with statistical packages (e.g. MATLAB, Stata) and experience with database programs (e.g. SQL).
• Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to present an argument clearly and concisely, and tailor communication to an audience.
• Proven ability to be proactive and exercise own initiative.
• Ability to work effectively and contribute within a diverse team, managing own workflow and priorities to meet deadlines.
• Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time.
