The Workers' Compensation Senior Research Associate will be part of an interdisciplinary team that conducts the Academy’s research and policy analysis on income security issues.

Job responsibilities:

Producing the annual report on national and state estimates of workers’ compensation benefits coverage and costs, derived from a federally-funded survey-based study

Developing and implementing the research agenda for the Workers’ Compensation Data Study Panel

Conducting original research on workers’ compensation and disability policy leading to briefs and outreach to policymakers

Drafting reports to funders; assisting in developing proposals for funding new and existing projects

Assisting with conferences, seminars and reports dealing with related income security issues (e.g., Social Security, SSI)

Collaborating on strategies for disseminating reports/briefs to key audiences (media, the states, Congress, the Administration, NASI membership)

Liaising with contacts at the Social Security Administration, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, and Department of Labor regarding all aspects of the workers’ compensation data project.

Qualifications: Masters/Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy or related field. Experience analyzing primary and secondary data. Expert analytical skills, expert knowledge of Excel, and excellent writing skills required. Past work on social insurance programs a plus. Familiarity with federal contracting procedures highly desirable.
