The Department of Economics at the University of Essex is seeking to make a number of appointments at Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Reader/ Professor level. Lecturers are equivalent to Assistant Professor Positions in the US and Senior Lecturers/ Readers are equivalent to Associate Professors.

Applications are invited from all fields and candidates should have a doctoral degree or be near completion. Successful candidates will have demonstrable potential in research and high quality teaching. For appointments at Senior Lecturer level and above, a strong record of high quality research publications in leading international journals, a broad teaching portfolio and the ability to provide leadership and support in these areas is essential. The posts are offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

The department is ranked 5th among all UK economics departments for research excellence (REF 2014) and among the only eight UK departments ranked among the top 100 economics departments in the world according to the QS World University Rankings. The offer is competitive, and also includes a generous relocation allowance, as well as the possibility of paid research leave and research funds. In addition the University currently operates a Market Supplement policy.

Members of the department will be attending the Simposio of the Spanish Economic Association (SAEe), to be held in Girona on the 10-12 December 2015.

Salary: Lecturer: £38,896-£46,414 per annum
Senior lecturer/Reader: £49,230-£55,389 per annum
Professor on the professorial scale commensurate with skills and achievements of the successful applicant
