The USITC is an independent federal agency that provides objective economic assessments of government policies, commercial practices, and other issues related to international trade and investment. Economists at the USITC work in multi-disciplinary teams to provide econometric, survey, and modeling expertise in USITC studies for the President, the U.S. Trade Representative and Congress.

The Research Division (RD) develops econometric and computable trade models, advances and publishes research, and conducts and analyzes large-scale surveys. RD anticipates openings for junior- and senior-level international economists and is interested in meeting new or experienced Ph.D. economists with relevant interests at the ASSA meetings in San Francisco. Candidates for the junior position are expected to have completed a Ph.D. by the date of appointment and candidates for the senior position are expected to show an active publication record. Researchers in all international areas are encouraged to apply, particularly those with a special focus on economic simulation (such as CGE analysis) and/or global value chains.
