Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Financial Research Division of the European Central Bank (ECB) is interested in hiring PhDs in economics or finance. The Division has two main responsibilities, namely: (i) to conduct research in the field of financial economics, including work on financial institutions, financial stability and systemic risk, theoretical and empirical banking, banking supervision, financial regulation and macro-prudential policy, financial markets, payment systems and market infrastructures, European financial integration, international financial linkages, and the design of monetary policy operations; and (ii) to provide research-based policy advice, including the development and maintenance of empirical models, tools and analytical indicators in the areas mentioned above.

Successful candidates will be expected to conduct and publish high-quality research and to actively contribute to the Division’s policy work. The Division is particularly interested in expanding its research in the fields of theoretical and empirical banking and the macroeconomic assessment of prudential regulation and supervision. However, applications from candidates in all areas of financial economics (micro or macro) will be considered.
