CBO, a nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with objective, timely analyses for economic and budgetary decisions, seeks new and experienced economists for an Applied Microeconomist position. The division is responsible for providing the Congress with analysis and evaluation of the effects of past and proposed changes to federal tax policies and for projecting federal revenues as part of the agency’s official 10-year budget "baseline.” Recently completed studies by the division include analyses of effective marginal tax rates on capital income, options for taxing U.S. multinational corporations, effective marginal tax rates for low- and moderate-income workers, the elasticity of capital gains realizations, and labor force participation elasticities.

Economists develop economic models, conduct economic analysis and empirical research, and write various reports, including CBO studies and testimonies. They are encouraged to actively participate in the policy research community by presenting papers at conferences and publishing articles in professional journals.
Obtain information and apply online at www.cbo.gov/careers. CBO may consider noncitizens who are permanent residents of the US who are seeking citizenship. Unfortunately, we cannot consider students on visas. CBO will interview at the AEA Meetings in San Francisco in January.

CBO is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/V/D
