1. Position: Tenure-track Assistant Professor (appointment as Associate Professor also possible)
2. Number to be employed: One person
3. Expected subject: Econometrics
4. Expected employment date: October 1, 2016 (beginning employment on April 1, 2017, is also possible)
5. Work configuration: Full time (five-year period). Tenure screening (conversion to permanent employment) is conducted by the fourth year.
6. This job opening is supported by the Kobe University Tenure Track Program 2016 which aims at developing faculties' ability for research and teaching, and global competence. During the tenure-track period, the successful candidate will be mostly exempted from administrative tasks in order to focus on research and teaching. A start-up fund of 1,500,000 Japanese Yen, a support for an administrative staff and a research assistant, and a research fund (1,000,000 Japanese Yen (first year); 800,000 Japanese Yen (second and third year); and 500,000 Japanese Yen (fourth and fifth year)) will be allocated. The salary will be determined based on the regulations of Kobe University.
7. Qualifications: Persons who meet all of the following criteria:
(1) Possession of a PhD degree or expectation thereof by the time of appointment.
(2) Track record of high-quality research in a specialized field and publication of peer-reviewed articles in academic journals.
(3) Ability to give lectures in English on statistics and econometrics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
