The Department of Economics at the American University of Beirut invites applications for one assistant professor position in applied microeconomics and one assistant professor position in applied macroeconomics to begin August 15, 2016. Candidates should have completed their PhD by August 2016.

Positions are normally for an initial period of four years. The usual teaching load is not more than nine hours a week. The language of instruction is English. Benefits for faculty include regular research leave and home leave, travel to one international conference per year, free tuition for children at any of Beirut's private schools, a housing allowance, and research funding.

Beirut is a cosmopolitan and lively city with a large international community. The American University of Beirut is the oldest western-style university in the Middle East, with an important role in the intellectual history of the Arab world.
