CBO, a nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with the objective analyses needed for economic and budgetary decisions, seeks economists for the following positions:

Associate Director for Economic Analysis to contribute to the agency’s analytic work by maintaining and enhancing the quality and transparency of CBO’s analyses for the Congress. Responsibilities include reviewing and guiding analytical reports at early, intermediate, and final stages; writing time-sensitive material; working with analysts to develop their skills and help them explain their methods; supporting senior managers; and engaging with analysts outside CBO. Experienced Health Economist to contribute to a variety of projects and analyses in the health area. Ongoing work includes further analyses of the effects of the Affordable Care Act, a study of the drivers of private health insurance premiums, several studies relating to the supply and price of health care services, and further analyses of competitive models for Medicare.

Macroeconomist with a broad range of interests, including public finance and fiscal policy. Work includes assessing the macroeconomic effects of federal fiscal policy, analyzing emerging developments in the economy, and preparing a semiannual economic forecast.
