Resources for the Future (RFF) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in quantitative modeling and policy analysis of the energy sector. Candidates must have a strong background in economics and economic modeling. Expertise in environmental economics is preferable but not required.

RFF is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution focused on independent analysis of environmental, energy, and natural resource policy issues (see www.rff.org). RFF offers an outstanding environment for scholarly publication and high-level communication of research to policy audiences.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in design and implementation of enhancements and extensions to existing suite of computable general equilibrium (CGE) models
• Maintain and update raw data inputs
• Execute simulations of CGE models
• Analyze and summarize model output
• Collaborate in preparation of journal articles, policy briefs, blog posts, and other written materials

Specialized Skills
• Programming experience in MATLAB and GAMS
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work both individually and as part of a team

The individual will work under the leadership of RFF fellows and senior fellows in RFF’s Center for Energy and Climate Economics. The individual will have the opportunity to participate widely in the policy relevant activities of RFF, fully exploiting its Washington, DC location and including interactions with federal agencies, the Congress, the corporate sector, and nongovernmental organizations. Applicants must have a PhD (current or with completion expected within six months of the start date).

The term of appointment is two years, with the expectation of renewal for up to one or two additional years subject to performance and funding availability.
