The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) provides information, services and advocacy to its member companies in order to create a better business climate in New Jersey. The Economist position is responsible for in-depth research and forecasting for NJ state economy, producing written analysis on employment trends and produce reports on taxes, unemployment and income, and other issues as related to economic conditions of the state. An important function is providing analysis on the impact of legislative proposals as they relate to the business climate in NJ.

The work requires data analysis, in depth economic modeling, data transformation and estimation, collecting and interpreting data for reports and proposals. Required to testify before legislative committees, work with senior staff on larger research and consulting projects, contribute recommendations based on analysis and speak at our events.

Requirements for this position include: Master’s degree in Economics strongly preferred or related graduate work. At least 7-10 years of relevant work experience. Advanced programming experience including spreadsheet and relational database software. Excellent research, analysis and writing skills. Ability to work well with others. Must be able to handle pressure in a deadline driven environment. Ability to convey complex economic issues in comprehensible terms.
