Position Title/Short Description

Full Text of JOE Listing:

Duties include assisting the Chief Economist (at the level of a Managing Director) in monitoring, analyzing, forecasting and commenting on the trends in the Korean economy and financial markets. Other responsibilities will include:

• Production of research on Korean economy relevant to financial market dynamics and investment areas
• Evaluate data on economic conditions and market development
• Formulate forecasts of future economic developments
• Conduct self-directed and initiated research on Korean and Asian thematic economic trends
• Assist the team in preparing various regular and ad hoc research reports and presentation material

The position and emoluments of the hire will be commensurate with qualifications and experience (Associate to VP level)

Requirement:

• Candidate must either graduate with a Master (MA) degree or above in Economics / Statistics / Mathematics
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills and good knowledge of financial instruments, market factors and the Korean economy
• Ability to work independently, self-motivated, draft well and quickly, to function with limited supervision
• Fluent in Korean and English, and also have strong writing skills in both languages
