Full Text of JOE Listing:

CBO, a small nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with the objective, timely analyses needed for economic and budgetary decisions, seeks a unit chief and a social security economist for the Long-Term Analysis Unit (LTAU). Much of the analysis conducted in LTAU relies on a microsimulation model that provides a basis for assessing the economic well-being of individuals across and within birth cohorts, and for projecting long-term budgetary outcomes, with a special focus on Social Security and major federal health care programs.

With other managers, the unit chief will develop and implement a strategic agenda for long-term analyses and will guide the work of the analysts in the unit.

The economist should have expertise in issues relating to Social Security. Responsibilities include preparing CBO reports and testimonies, performing detailed analyses of proposed legislation, and constructing and improving models that underlie CBO's policy analyses.

Applicants should also have a Ph.D. in economics, experience in labor economics, a strong quantitative background, excellent writing skills, and a desire to work on issues of legislative interest to the Congress.

Obtain information about CBO at www.cbo.gov and apply online at www.cbo.gov/careers. CBO may consider permanent residents of the US.

CBO is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/V/D
