The Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office (HE2RO), a multidisciplinary research office of the Wits Health Consortium at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position in health economics. The position is under the direct supervision of HE2RO staff in collaboration with the Center for Global Health & Development at Boston University (www.bu.edu/cghd). Boston University faculty will provide mentorship and support to economists interested in developing a career focusing on field-based, applied, policy- and program-relevant research and evaluation on issues of public health importance in South Africa, predominately related to HIV and TB. The position includes opportunities for leadership roles on ongoing projects, grant writing, and developing independent areas of research within the scope of HE2RO’s work.
The term of the appointment is 2 years with the possibility of extension.
Consideration will be given only to applicants who will have completed their doctoral degree by June 2015, and no earlier than 2013. Applicants will be prioritized based on: quantitative analytic skills; writing skills, as evidenced by peer reviewed publications or working papers; and interest in publishing work relevant to HE2RO’s mission.
