Basic Function:
The Fellow and Policy Director of The Hamilton Project (THP) will assist with the development and direction of the policy agenda for THP. Works with the Director to develop and execute an overall policy agenda and policy strategy for The Hamilton Project. Coordinates the work of outside academics and policy analysts to achieve policy agenda and undertakes high-quality policy research on behalf of THP. Works closely with and supervises the Project's Research Assistants.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Ph.D. in Economics or Public Policy required. Minimum four years of related post-doctorate work experience required, including practical experience with current economic and public policy issues.

Knowledge Requirements:
Exemplary writing and editing skills required. Must be able to simplify and synthesize complex research, statistics and policy issues and convert academic literature into accessible, policy relevant documents. Demonstrated ability to understand and write knowledgeably about economics and public policy research. Must be a quick learner on a wide array of public policy issues and excel in a high-paced environment, often working under deadline. Ability to collaborate with others on joint writing assignments. Competence to undertake research and writing assignments with little or no supervision required. Strong knowledge of and passion for economic and public policy preferred. Knowledge of STATA and other widely used computer software programs. Initiative, discretion, and mature judgment required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

40% Writing
Collaborates with authors and assists with the writing and direction of their papers to ensure THP's policy agenda is illustrated throughout the authors' papers.
Writes accessible, engaging issue briefs from academic white papers.
Writes THP original products showcasing original and commissioned research.
Understand and write knowledgeably about public policy research of the economic caliber necessary for publication(s).

30% Research
Undertakes original rigorous research and writing of THP papers.
Engage in research and policy analysis related to THP.

30% Policy Development
Collaborates with THP Director and Managing Director to formulate a policy agenda and work plan.
Identifies potential authors and research areas, and generates new policy ideas for white papers.
