Position Description:
The Global Tactical Asset Allocation (“GTAA”) group within Public Market Investments is responsible for generating excess returns by taking macroeconomic risk. It takes top-down, active positions in and between global asset classes such as equity, bonds, currencies and commodities. GTAA uses both fundamental and quantitative approaches to establish its views. It is one of the largest and fastest growing GTAA groups globally, and has recruited international talent from world class macro funds. As part of a young organization with a strong governance structure and a relatively unconstrained investment mandate, the GTAA group is able to benefit from some inherent, structural advantages. In particular we are able to take relatively long-horizon investment views and foster unique external partnerships with other world class asset managers.

We are currently recruiting for an Associate to support the research, design and implementation of world-class active investment strategies in our rapidly growing GTAA group. Ideal candidates are deeply passionate about financial markets, embrace both fundamental and quantitative approaches and conduct themselves with the highest standards of integrity. Above all, they derive the highest satisfaction from achieving excellence, continuously expanding their knowledge and skills, and by being part of a team that strives to be the best in its field.

Role specific accountabilities include:
Conduct applied research to predict the returns of a wide variety of asset classes including currencies, stocks, bonds, commodities, credit and volatility
Apply knowledge of macroeconomics to build and maintain asset class fundamental valuation models for equity, bonds and credit
Provide ad-hoc fundamental and quantitative research and analysis
Forecast fundamental macro drivers underlying asset price returns
Stay abreast of current academic research as well as general macroeconomic and market conditions
Skills and Abilities

If you possess the following, we’d like to hear from you:
Master’s or PhD degree in fields related to macroeconomics, econometrics or finance
The ideal candidate will possess 2-4 years of relevant work experience in an investment bank, asset manager, central bank or an international financial institution. Candidates without relevant experience may still be considered based on academic achievement.
Deep knowledge of and aptitude for macroeconomics, international finance and modern portfolio theory
Strong econometric skills and related forecasting techniques
Ability to deliver in a high performance culture operating under time-sensitive deadlines
Detail-oriented with an ability to produce high quality work with a high degree of accuracy
Confidence to challenge, be challenged and ability to persuade colleagues in the pursuit of excellence
Conduct in line with our Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance
