Full Text of JOE Listing:

The candidate will conduct independent, in-depth and fruitful research on the issues within his/her expertise as well as the Centre's research agenda. He/She needs to exercise leadership in shaping research agendas. The candidate must be capable of initiating and organizing research projects, conference and other research events that require collaboration with a team of researchers. He/She should be able to independently reach out to publishers and actively engage with academia, policy practitioners, media and business leaders. In addition, he/she is expected to play a role in coordination with the other researchers, and contribute to the intellectual life of the centre.

Job Requirement
• A Ph.D. degree in the social sciences and/or humanities that is relevant to CAG’s research interests
• In-depth expertise in South Asian political economy, including but not limited to: understanding the political economy of institutional and other reform agendas of South Asia, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank; bilateral development organisations and export-credit agencies in the region; the broader political economy of globalisation and its impact upon/implications for South Asia.
• A track record of research excellence demonstrated by peer reviewed academic publications within or relevant to CAG’s research interests
• An ability to engage with policy and research communities in Asia and around the world
• A strong and demonstrated sense of academic independence and collegiality
• Language skills in addition to English are preferred but not compulsory
