The Department of Health Policy & Management within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work (RSCPHSW) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for one tenure-track position in the department of Health Policy & Management.
RSCPHSW is building an innovative interdisciplinary Department of Health Policy & Management. As it grows, the department will achieve excellence in health policy and health economics research, teaching, and service. The Department’s guiding philosophy is: teaching and service are grounded in good scholarship and collegiality. While grounded, the goals of the Department are dynamic, reflecting the personal and career goals and interests of the faculty.
The mission of the College of Public Health & Social Work is to enhance the public health by conducting innovative research, training future public health professionals from diverse backgrounds, translating research into policy and practice, and serving our local and world communities.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in economics, health economics, or closely related disciplines and be prepared to engage in collaborative research in a multi-disciplinary, public health setting. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in behavioral economics. Candidates with evidence of successful applied research and grant-writing experience are preferred. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
Responsibility:
Responsibilities will include research, teaching 2-3 graduate courses per semester with the option to buy out, serving on thesis and dissertation committees, advising graduate students, and serving the university, professional, and public health practice communities.
Faculty in the Department of Health Policy & Management are expected to be leaders or have the potential to become leaders in their areas of research and scholarship. The Department expects and encourages faculty to conduct collaborative research with colleagues in the Department and College. Senior faculty are expected to be willing to mentor junior faculty. Faculty are expected to participate in the department's existing joint degree programs with Economics and Public Affairs (MPH/Ph.D.), and contribute to the development of a Ph.D. specialization in health policy.
Applicants should be qualified to teach in at least two of the following areas specific to public health policy and management: Management and Organizational Behavior, Leadership Studies, Health Economics, Operations and Quality, Health Insurance, Health Care Finance, Health Care Marketing, Strategic Planning, Research Methods, and Health Policy.
Appointments are for a term of 9 months. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
