The IC2Institute at the University of Texas at Austin seeks a Research Scientist to obtain research grants, direct and manage research projects as the principal investigator, and publish research findings in the fields of economics, social studies, business or statistics using advanced quantitative statistical methods. Required qualifications include a PhD in Economics, Business or Statistics. Demonstrated record of independent research productivity via publications, awards, and presentations equivalent to that of an established assistant professor or a new associate professor; knowledge of and facilitywith the application of multivariate survey research and statistical methods (including estimating panel data, time series, multinomial logit, hazard, and structural equation models) for conducting analysis and preparing reports; excellent interpersonal communication skills; five years of postdoctoral experience in the analysis and presentation of statistical data; ability toanalyze and interpret data using advanced statistical methods, including multivariate and Bayesian methods; ability to program in standard statistical software, including IMPLAN, R, STATA, SPSS, and SAS; competency with database management software, including queries in SQL; experience with managing large datasets, including merging, recoding, cleaning and transforming variables; and experience with qualitative research methods.
