Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Fund was founded as a macro advisory firm in August 2010, and in August 2012 launched its first fund in currency space. AUM growth has been rapid, and the currency fund closed to new investors above $1.2bn in Q2 2014. The Fund’s investors include leading global institutional investors ranging from asset managers to pension funds to sovereign wealth funds.

The firm’s business model is uniquely transparent and research-based. Investors receive a weekly newsletter which includes updates on fund performance, the manager’s market views as well as weekly research notes supporting portfolio allocation. The Fund’s investment philosophy is behavioral macro: seeking to identify tradable market volatility through understanding how market participants react to incoming news, rather than through a normative view of economies or markets. Over the past four years, the firm’s research has built a strong following among leading global investors.

The firm is a small and dynamic organization that offers unique growth opportunities for motivated individuals. The culture stresses work ethic, openness, intellectual honesty, entrepreneurship and team spirit. While there are clear lines of accountability, there is no hierarchy and employees are motivated by job satisfaction rather than by external recognition.

The firm is looking to develop its research capabilities through hiring a Research Associate. The position will involve:

- Developing and managing databases to support risk taking.
- Helping to produce client-facing publications.
- Monitoring market and economic developments.
- Listening to sell side conference calls/presentations.
- Pursuing independent research on topics identified by the CIO or the Head of Research.

To be successful, the candidate would require:

1. The ability to work in the US.
2. BSc in Economics with a minimum of 2 years’ experience, with quantitative macro work in an academic, policy or private sector context. Previous market experience is a plus but not a requirement.
3. Strong data skills: ability to organize and analyze data without “mining”; experience with economic times series analysis. Programming skills are a plus but not a requirement.
4. Strong organizational skills.
5. Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
6. Track record of thriving in a team environment.
7. An ability to shift focus quickly and apply analytical tools to a wide range of topics.
8. An ability to work under pressure.
