The Office of Strategic Programs at the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (FDA/CDER) is seeking economists (PhD or ABD) for its Economics Staff. CDER economists conduct evaluations of existing FDA policies, as well as analyses to support development of new policies. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with CDER’s leadership in shaping pharmaceutical policy.

Recent projects have explored the economics of drug shortages, orphan drugs, personalized medicine, contract manufacturing, and shared generic exclusivity. Much of our work stays internal, but we have published some of our work in healthcare policy journals.

A successful candidate:
* Adeptly handles projects where goals, objectives, and path forward are not clearly defined;
* Skillfully analyzes complex problems using a variety of theoretical and empirical, methods, tools, and approaches;
* Effectively communicates with non-technical audience both verbally and in writing;
* Proactively establishes relationships with internal stakeholders to aid in gathering the institutional knowledge and data needed to conduct analyses.

This position is only open to US citizens. Previous experience reporting to executive management or working in a client-facing capacity are a plus. Healthcare background is not necessary.
