The Department of Economics at Deakin University is looking to further enhance its capabilities in economic theory research. We have two openings, one senior and one junior. We are looking to fill (1) a tenured professorial position in theory or applied theory at the level of professor or associate professor and (2) a junior position in labor, health, theory, trade and development or political economy at the level of senior lecturer or lecturer level.
At the senior level, we are interested in appointing a scholar with leadership skills and demonstrated commitment to scientific excellence. Any candidate must have an outstanding track record of scholarly achievement and successful teaching commensurate with rank.

The Department of Economics at Deakin comprises 32 academic members, with publications in top general interest economics and field journals. The Department is ranked 9th in Australia and among the top 5% in the world over the past decade (RePec). Located in Melbourne, one of the most multicultural and liveable cities in the world, Deakin offers an internationally competitive compensation package and an attractive teaching load (two classes a year).

Pre campus visit meetings will be held during the AEA meetings in Boston in January 2015. Start date is flexible but July 2015 would be the target date.
