The Department of Economics invites applications for one or more open-rank continuing positions. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics, preferably from North America, by the starting date (September 2015). Senior applicants must have an established research record and strong teaching credentials. Junior applicants must have strong research agenda and teaching skills. All applicants must be able to work effectively with a diverse student body. For retention, faculty must publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals and excel in teaching. The university curricula, teaching standards, and employment norms are fully aligned with the American model of higher education. The University, which has over 6000 students, is located in the University Cityâ€™s magnificent campus, and is minutes away from Dubai and a variety of urban amenities. The American University of Sharjah is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Economics is part of the AACSB accredited School of Business Administration. The positions are subject to budgetary approval.
The salary is tax free in the UAE, highly competitive, and commensurate with experience. Free housing, paid utilities, and other benefits are also provided.
