The Economics Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney is seeking to make two appointments at the level of Lecturer (Assistant Professor), Senior Lecturer and/or Associate Professor (subject to budgetary approval).

Applicants must have a PhD completed (or near completion for applicants to Lecturer positions) and should demonstrate strong research abilities and a commitment to quality teaching. Applicants to the Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor positions should have a number of years of experience in research supervision and teaching and have demonstrated evidence of research excellence.

Successful applicants will be expected to teach in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, to supervise postgraduate research, and to develop an independent research program. We invite applications from all areas of economics but are especially interested in econometrics and industrial organization.

The Economics Discipline Group was formed in 2011 and is rapidly establishing itself as one of the premier research departments in Australia. In the 2012 “Excellence in Research” evaluation, UTS was the only university in Sydney and one of only four universities in Australia, to be awarded the top rating of 5 out of 5 in the field of Economics. UTS was also awarded the top rating for Econometrics and was the only university in Australia, awarded the top rating for Applied Economics (http://www.arc.gov.au/era/outcomes_2012/FoR/14). More recently, the Economics Discipline Group has made several high-profile hires (http://www.uts.edu.au/about/uts-business-school/economics/economics-staff) and has created a US style course-work founded PhD program that is unique to Australia (http://www.uts.edu.au/about/uts-business-school/economics/what-we-do/economics-phd-program).
