The Department of Economics at the University of Kansas invites candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Professor. This position includes the endowed appointment of Oswald Scholar, which provides research support and a discretionary fund. The position is expected to begin as early as August 18, 2015.

Candidates must specialize in the combination of Energy and Environmental Economics. Given the specialization of the position, the University of Kansas is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to a key campus-wide strategic initiative entitled “Sustaining the Planet, Powering the World,” which represents a collaborative interdisciplinary endeavor at KU. Thus, the University seeks candidates who will offer a demonstrated ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary environments. As part of the contribution to the identified strategic initiative, the successful candidate will be expected (1) to research and publish on topics involving the combination of energy and environmental economics, and (2) to develop and teach courses on these same topics. On these points, the University seeks candidates who present evidence of the potential for high quality research and highly effective teaching. Moreover, the successful candidate will be expected to serve on graduate student committees; direct theses and dissertations; perform advising responsibilities; and serve on Departmental, College, and University committees.

Required Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. or ABD in Economics (or a similar field) from an accredited school is expected by the start date of the appointment (08-18-2015)
2. Demonstrated potential for high quality research
3. Demonstrated potential to teach effectively both undergraduate-level and graduate-level courses
4. Demonstrated potential to work in collaborative interdisciplinary environments
