The Alma College Economics Department invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2015. For both positions, candidates with any of the JEL fields are invited to apply, but the successful candidate should be able to meet the needs of a small department and be willing to teach the following courses: Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics. In additon, one of the positions will be required to teach Econometrics or a Business Analytics course, and Finance. The candidate will also be expected to develop and offer upper-level electives, and contribute significantly to the development of a new Economics curriculum and capstone seminar course. Experience in undergraduate teaching is highly desirable. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who have completed a Ph.D. by August 2015; the Ph.D. is required for tenure-track appointment.

Teaching load is six courses per year. Responsibilities include academic advising and institutional involvement. The Department also encourages development of new courses by new faculty in their areas of special interest, and welcomes interdisciplinary applications. Candidates must be strongly committed to undergraduate liberal learning and research.

Applicants should upload through the J.O.E. a letter of interest that specifically states which position they are applying for, the Econometrics/Finance position or the Generalist position. This letter should also include a statement of how their goals as a teacher and scholar may be realized in the context of undergraduate liberal arts education. Copies of the following materials should be uploaded as well: a current CV, graduate transcripts, a sample of representative scholarly work, evidence of teaching effectiveness, a statement of teaching philosophy or portfolio, and three letters of recommendation. Preliminary interviews will be held at the ASSA/AEA meetings in Boston in January 2015.
