The Center for Retirement Research at Boston College is seeking a Research Economist to develop and conduct research relating to Social Security, employer-provided pensions, household saving, and labor market outcomes for older workers. This effort will involve conceiving the research question, identifying the relevant data, constructing the appropriate model, initiating the quantitative research, monitoring research assistants, and producing publishable papers and other products, such as issue briefs, to meet specific deadlines. The Research Economist will present research at conferences and other forums and help transmit findings to policymakers, the research community, and the public. The Research Economist will also identify opportunities for research funding and complete proposals to attract support from government, corporate, and foundation sources.

The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. in Economics, with 3 or more years of experience and familiarity with retirement issues. In addition, the individual should be well-organized and detail-oriented, skilled at juggling multiple assignments, and have exceptional analytical and communication skills. Some travel is required. Salary is dependent upon experience.
