The School of International Service (SIS) at American University (AU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2015. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or the highest equivalent degree in a relevant discipline by August 2015.

We seek scholar-teachers whose work is theoretically grounded, empirically tested, and policy relevant. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research and teaching and a commitment to university service. Candidates should also share the School's commitment to diversity.

We seek an innovative scholar of global health to join our group of scholars focused on the intersection of social science and public health. Candidates who study the social, political, and environmental factors that influence health and the spread of disease, including cross-cultural patterns of the diffusion of health-related phenomena, are particularly welcome. A history of external grant funding will be looked upon favorably, as will those with backgrounds in medical anthropology or health economics.
