The Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position starting on October 1, 2015 or April 1, 2016. We are interested in candidates with research interests in applied microeconomics (e.g. labor economics, industrial organization, development economics, international economics and other applied fields). Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. or complete it within three months after the time of appointment. The successful candidate will teach in English at the Graduate School of Economics, Hitotsubashi University. The term of the initial contract is three years and, depending on academic work, the contract can be renewed once for two more years. The tenure decision will be made within the five years on the basis of academic performance mainly measured by publications in refereed journals. Teaching obligation is at least 8 credits per academic year that consists of two semesters. Each semester consists of 15 weeks plus one week for examinations. A four-credit course is a semester course that requires two 90-minute lectures per week. Courses to be taught are undergraduate and graduate field courses and/or core courses. Administrative duties include shared responsibility for committee membership and entrance examinations. Other administrative duties may be assigned.
