The University of Missouri invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor position in media economics (quantitative focus). This new position is part of a unique collaboration among the Department of Economics, The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute and the Trulaske College of Business.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in journalism, communication, marketing, economics or related discipline.

Competitive recruitment: Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their scholarship (research and publication), teaching and success in securing external funding.

Teaching and Research Assignment: Candidate will teach two courses in economics per year in addition to maintaining an active interdisciplinary research program that involves Journalism, Economics, and Marketing. The research program, headquartered at the Reynolds Journalism Institute, will focus on media economics.

The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) was launched in 2004 with a grant of $31 million from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. In conjunction with the centennial celebration of the Missouri School of Journalism, RJI’s headquarters were opened in September 2008. The 50,000 square-foot facility on the University of Missouri campus has state-of-the-art resources to test and demonstrate new technologies, experiment with new approaches to producing, designing and delivering news, information and advertising, and to host conferences that can be live-streamed around the world.

The Trulaske College of Business is celebrating its centennial in 2014. It has a legacy of business leadership, development and innovation.

The Economics Department is part of the College of Arts and Science. The faculty includes a broad mix of scholars whose research focuses on applied and policy-relevant analysis with strengths in industrial organization and empirical microeconomics. The department runs a formal weekly seminar series and an informal brown-bag lunch, and co-hosts an annual two-day conference with the research departments of the St. Louis and Kansas City Federal Reserve banks, which brings in researchers from around the region and beyond.
