Full Text of JOE Listing:

Western Carolina University invites applications for the Gimelstob-Landry Distinguished Professorship in Regional Economic Development, endowed with a generous gift to the University from entrepreneurs Herbert Gimelstob and Laurence D. Landry. The successful applicant will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, sustain a record of scholarly engagement commensurate with appointment as a Distinguished Professor, administer programs supported by the Professorship's endowment, and fulfill normal duties of a faculty member in the College of Business. As a prominent scholar of economic development, the Gimelstob-Landry Distinguished Professor will also enhance the University's outreach and profile among the regional economic communities of the Southeast United States and Southern Appalachians, in part by liaising with WCU's Millennial Initiative (http://www.wcu.edu/about-wcu/millennial-initiative/) and by pursuing other outlets.

A Ph.D. is required in a discipline related to economic development. The expected teaching load is two courses (six hours) per fall and spring semesters, with potential for some teaching responsibilities at offsite locations or using on-line methodologies. The salary range will be competitive with regionally-accredited AACSB institutions. The College of Business is AACSB accredited and has over 60 full-time faculty members. Please visit our website at www.wcu.edu/cob.

The Department, College, and University expect the successful candidate to possess outstanding communication skills, demonstrate an established track record of publication in refereed journals and other outlets, and have a record of excellence in the classroom. The University is implementing its cutting-edge Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), Synthesis: Pathways to Intentional Learning, and the successful candidate will be instrumental in promoting the scholarship of engagement that is a part of this model.

To be considered, apply online and include a letter of application; curriculum vita; copies of official transcripts; evidence of teaching excellence; one sample of written research; and contact information for three professional references. Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For questions or additional information, contact:
