Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Labour Program within Human Resources and Skills Development Canada is seeking applicants to fill positions in its research division with dynamic economic researchers, at starting salaries ranging from $72,927 up to $95,763 plus excellent benefits.

The Labour Program is responsible for the Federal Labour Jurisdiction through the Canada Labour Code and the Employment Equity Act, amongst other legislation. Its international mandate includes leading Canada's efforts to deal with the labour dimensions of globalization.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
-A PhD in economics from a recognized university; current PhD students need to complete all requirements for graduation by end of 2013.
-Experience conducting empirical research and analysis on labour economics or industrial relations issues OR experience building and using Computable General Equilibrium models for the Canadian economy;
-Experience in econometric methods; and experience in preparing research reports and notes;
-Knowledge of Canada's current economic and social challenges; and knowledge of statistical methods used in analyzing administrative or survey data.
-Ability to identify research and analytical requirements in relation to policy issues; ability to effectively communicate in writing to policy-makers in either English or French; and ability to effectively communicate orally in either English or French.
-Effective interpersonal relationship; judgment and reliability.
N.B.: Applicants must meet all essential qualifications; positions are English or French essential.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
-Knowledge of the empirical literature on labour economics and industrial relations
-Knowledge of the econometrics of qualitative variables.
-Publications in professional reviews.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
-The Labour Program wishes to increase the representation of individuals from the four designated employment equity groups (aboriginal people, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and women).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Willingness and ability to work overtime and on weekends from time to time.

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
-Must be eligible for reliability status clearance.
-Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
-Must meet and maintain the above condition(s) throughout employment.
