STARTING DATE: August 1, 2013, or as negotiated

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Earth and Mineral Sciences, Engineering, and the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment seek applicants to fill a tenure track appointment in the area of integrated modeling or quantitative analysis of energy, environmental and human systems. We will consider applications for the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (depending on qualifications). Examples of relevant research areas include integrated assessment modeling, climate change impacts and adaptation, energy systems, water systems, land use change, risk management, and decision-making under uncertainty. The successful candidate will join a highly active inter-College group of researchers working on issues related to energy and environment, and will be expected to work with interdisciplinary teams to conduct research and seek external funding in these research areas.

This is a 9-month, full-time appointment with both research and teaching responsibilities. College and departmental home of the appointment will be determined based on fit. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses appropriate to the department in which the successful candidate will reside. Those applying at the assistant professor level should expect to receive their Ph.D. by August 2013. For consideration at the associate or full professor level, applicants must demonstrate a proven record of research and teaching accomplishments commensurate with appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in economics, earth sciences, operations research, engineering or related fields.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. An attractive benefits and start-up package is available.
