The University of Rhode Island (URI) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to conduct research, teaching, and service in water resource economics and policy focusing on issues of water management, water supply and demand, water allocation, water markets, the design of water management approaches and the environmental benefits associated with reduced water consumption. The position is part of a cluster hire initiative to strengthen URI's focus on Water and Water Resources, which is a collaborative, interdisciplinary research program in hydrology, water quality, environmental geochemistry, environmental engineering, natural resource policy, and Geographic Information Systems. As part of this interdisciplinary cluster hire initiative, the candidate will make significant contributions to our ongoing international education and research efforts that address critical challenges in water resources in the USA and emerging economies and in human sustainability and infrastructure security. Particularly, we are interested in a faculty member with a strong background in water resource economics and policy to focus on issues of water management, including water supply and demand. The individual must have strong background in institutions governing water allocation, especially water markets, with a focus on the design of water management approaches and the environmental benefits associated with reduced water consumption. We are especially interested in individuals with interest and experience in carrying out laboratory and/or field experiments with institutions, including market-based institutions.
